How long will my meals last for?
- Fresh Why Cook meals will last up to 7 days in the fridge.
- Frozen meals will last between 3-6 months in your freezer.
- Fresh salad will last 3 days. Always check the use by date on the meal container before consumption.
How do the meals stay fresh?
Why Cook uses a natural method of preserving the food without the need for additives or preservatives. Straight after cooking, our meals are blast chilled to less than 4 degrees centigrade. This reduces the risk of pathogens developing. We then vacuum pack our meals, this removes oxygen from the meals to slow down the oxidation process, allowing the product to stay fresh naturally for longer.
Can I freeze my Why Cook meals?
We recommend that your meals are consumed fresh. However, if required most of our meals may be frozen before the use by date and then consumed within 3 months. If you intend to freeze your meals, it is better to do so when you first receive them.
Tip: Separate your meal into individual portions before freezing. (e.g. It is easier to slice and portion a Lasagne when it is cold)
What happens if I have food allergies?
Our product description will contain advice as to whether the meal is Gluten or Dairy Free or both. For any other allergies, we suggest that you check each meal ingredient thoroughly before consumption. Otherwise give us a call on 07 3511 1885
What is Mauritian cuisine?
For more than 300 years Mauritian cuisine has been influenced by French, African, Indian and Chinese migrants. It has thus developed its own unique mild but scrumptious flavours.
Do you have vegetarian dishes?
We do have an ever increasing range of vegetarian dishes available.
Do you use any artificial additives, colours, flavour enhancers or preservatives?
We don’t use any artificial additives, colours, flavour enhancers or preservatives ourselves in the kitchen. However, there are some ready-made ingredients we use – for example some Asian sauces, cream etc.- which may contain additives. If you have any concerns about a particular dish, please call us on 07 3511 1885.
How do I pay?
Payment is through PayPal where you can use VISA, MasterCard and AMEX.
Do I need to enter into a contract?
No. There are no contracts and no joining fees.
When should I put my Orders?
Place your order online by midnight on Sunday for delivery on following Wednesday.
Place your order by midnight on Wednesday for delivery on following Friday.
Orders finalised after these cut off point will be delivered during next week delivery.
Where do you deliver?
We currently deliver to many suburbs around Brisbane and surrounding areas. To verify if we deliver to your Post Code, first select a meal, then in the box under “Check Availability At” enter your Post Code and press “Check” to confirm delivery.
When do you deliver?
We deliver on Wednesday or Friday based on the time you placed your order (see above). Orders of food within the Christmas category will be completed by Monday 24th December 2018 at 6.00 pm.
Do you deliver on weekends and public holidays?
We are closed on these days. If your order falls on a public holiday, your delivery will move to the next possible delivery day. We’ll notify you on your expected delivery day.
Is there a minimum order?
No, there is no minimum order for our meals.
Do I need to be home to receive the delivery?
No. Most of our customers are not home when we deliver. We’ll leave your box on your doorstep unless you specifically advise us of your preferred location.
The meals are delivered in an Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) box with special ice packs.
What happened to the Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) boxes?
We charge you $5.00 as deposit for the EPS box and Ice Pack. Please keep the boxes and ice pack clean and leave it outside for us to pick up at your next food delivery. We’ll then refund the deposit into your Why Cook? account. That way we can recycle the use of these boxes until they reach their useful life.
My Post Code is not on the list
With the expansion of the business, we’ll be adding new post codes to the list above. If your post code is not already in the list, please give us a call. Sometimes, we do different routes that can bring us closer to your home. Therefore in some circumstances we may be able to arrange delivery to your address outside of the listed Post Codes.
